AskRevan extension privacy & data use

Updated November 5, 2026. This notice describes the AskRevan Chrome extension. Workspace administrators control access to content saved in their organizations.

What the extension does

AskRevan captures workflows you choose to record, lets you review and save them as documentation, and displays workspace guidance you request. You start and stop captures. Recording is scoped to the selected tab and website origin; it is not a general browser-history collection service.

Information handled

During a recording, the extension collects interaction types, page origin/path, timing, and selected element attributes used to locate controls, such as reviewed labels, roles and selectors. Event metadata excludes typed input values and URL query/hash portions. Paths and element attributes can still contain private identifiers; inspect recorded content before saving.

Screenshots are optional and off by default. If enabled, visible-page images can contain private information, including information outside the clicked control. Review, redact or discard each screenshot before saving. Automatic filtering cannot guarantee that an image or selector is free of sensitive information.

Connecting uses your signed-in AskRevan account. A browser credential is stored in Chrome extension local storage restricted to trusted extension pages. Account/workspace information and the questions you submit are used for authentication, access checks and the guidance features you request.

Local storage and uploads

Draft actions and screenshots remain in extension storage until you explicitly save a recording. Saving uploads the workflow and approved screenshots to the selected AskRevan workspace. Questions you submit and guide requests are sent to AskRevan when you use those features. Content scripts do not receive your browser credential. Uninstalling clears extension-local data but does not delete previously saved workspace content.

Processing and sharing

AskRevan uses Google Cloud/Firebase for application hosting and authentication, Neon/PostgreSQL for application records, and configured object storage for media. When you request AI-assisted generation or answers, relevant workflow/knowledge content and questions may be sent by the AskRevan backend to OpenAI. These processors support the requested product features. Your organization's authorized members may access content according to their permissions; public publication is a separate deliberate action.

AskRevan does not sell extension user data or use captured browsing activity for advertising, creditworthiness or unrelated profiling. Use of extension data is limited to the disclosed workflow and guidance features and their necessary operation/security. AskRevan's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Connection duration and controls

A remembered connection expires after 30 days without authenticated account activity; activity extends that timeout. Disconnecting or revoking that browser session ends its access. Disabled accounts and revoked account access are checked by the API. A temporary fallback lasts only until the current sign-in token expires and is identified separately in the extension. Closing Chrome or a walkthrough does not itself sign you out.

Retention and deletion

Local drafts remain until cleared, replaced or the extension is uninstalled. Saved recordings, media and guides have a separate workspace lifecycle; this notice does not promise a fixed automatic deletion period or immediate removal of backup copies. Contact your workspace administrator or AskRevan to request access/deletion assistance. Removing a public publication does not retract copies someone already downloaded.
